You know what really grinds my gears? When people talk about Ballarat as a ‘country town’. That is just so wrong, and if the people who talk about it like that had ever actually been here, they’d know that. Ballarat is an amazing place with a thriving community and almost all the same facilities you’d find in the city. It’s more of a rural hub with opportunities for all, and it’s getting better and bigger each and every day.
I see this change happening all around me, but nowhere so much as in the leaps and bounds being made by the access to different services. Things that, when I was a kid, we would have had to go to Melbourne for are being brought to our doorstep by people who realise that we want the same things as anyone else. This little ‘country town’ is so big that opening practices up here is a profitable endeavour for many entrepreneurs looking to expand their horizons. For instance, a new laser hair removal clinic, Ballarat only had one or two to begin with, has opened up just around the corner from where I work.
Laser hair removal has always been something I’ve considered in the back of my mind as an option, but have never really decided it would be worth it to put in the time, effort, or money. There are a couple of other minor cosmetic procedures that, in an ideal world, I’d love to have it done too, like getting dermal fillers somewhere in Ballarat. I mean it’s never really been an option before. Or, if it was, I certainly didn’t know about it. Because it’s so accessible now, perhaps it will be worthwhile having a bit of a look into it. If anything, I could just walk in during my lunch break and have a quick chat to them about it – and just the fact that I can do that is what I call progress.
