As a retired swim instructor, I’ve always cherished my independence. The water has been my life for so many years, giving me strength and freedom even as I’ve grown older. But lately, I’ve started to notice that my body isn’t as agile as it once was. A few months ago, I had a close call when I almost slipped getting out of the bath. It shook me more than I wanted to admit. Living alone, I’ve always prided myself on being able to take care of myself, but that near fall made me realise I needed to make some changes.
That’s when I heard about bath modifications. The idea of making my bathroom safer without undergoing a massive renovation immediately caught my attention. I wasn’t ready to give up the comfort of my home, and I certainly didn’t want to start thinking about moving. The thought of modifying my existing bathtub to make it safer seemed like the perfect solution.
After doing some research, I discovered the option of a bathtub cut out for elderly. The process sounded simple enough—a small section of the side of the bathtub would be removed to create an easy step-in entry. It was a relief to learn that the modification wouldn’t damage the surrounding tiles or surfaces. There would be no extra mess, no need to retile, and no costly repairs.
The team came out to assess my bathroom, and I was impressed by how quickly and professionally they handled everything. Within a short time, the modification was complete. When I first saw the new cut-out in my bathtub, I couldn’t believe how unobtrusive it was. It didn’t alter the look of my bathroom at all, but it added so much in terms of safety and ease.
Now, stepping into the bath feels like second nature again. I no longer worry about slipping or struggling to get in and out. It’s amazing how such a small change has brought back a sense of security to my daily routine. I’m grateful that I can continue to live independently in my home, with the peace of mind that I’m safe. For anyone who values their independence as much as I do, I can’t recommend bath modifications enough. It’s a simple solution that has made a world of difference in my life.
