At some point during my university days I discovered that doing anything at night is better than doing it during the day. A friend of mine had this quirk where she would shower in the dark at night and recommended I try it. So I did. It was pretty strange, but good. Then I started doing other stuff at night. Like going to the supermarket (everything is on special!) and gardening in the dark (white roses look beautiful by moonlight).
Ever since those formative night experiences, I’ve become completely nocturnal. And not it’s time to look for night time birthday party venues. Melbourne has some ice skating rinks that look pretty cool. They have events on Friday and Saturday night. Apparently it’s really pretty because everything glows including the ice you’re skating on. That would look really cool. Then you get to skate around to whatever type of music you like.
Another option is to have a picnic on the full moon which is close to my birthday and the autumn equinox. We could have a Dionysian celebration and let the light of the moon intoxicate us. But on the other hand, this opportunity to hire a function venue in Melbourne is really unique.
Other stuff that’s better at night is eating junk food (because you know it’s bad), cooking (because you can annoy your housemates) and reading (because it’s so quiet). If you’ve got a good pair of ear plugs, then sleeping during the day is great. You get to block out all the annoying people who want to ask you questions and interact with you. You even get to sleep through your responsibilities and your work. Speaking of which, I should check that message on my voicemail from my boss. I got my paycheck in the mail the other day and it was five days early, so don’t know what that’s all about.b
