I haven’t told Bret and Jemaine this yet, but I’m thinking about managing a second band. I’ve found this hot new talent called the Crazy Cats, and they need a manager. This is just too good of an opportunity to pass up. The Crazy Cats are one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live, and it is frankly amazing that they haven’t been signed to a record label yet. Yes, they might be a cover band, but they are so good at playing their instruments that I’m certain they can write some awesome new songs of their own. All they need is a manager who believes in them.
I’ve had to move my band meetings with Bret and Jemaine out to the park since we are finally getting commercial decorative glass installed in the New Zealand Consulate of Melbourne. I managed to negotiate down from an Australian flag depiction on my window to a picture of a kangaroo. If you squint really hard, you can almost maybe mistake it for a kiwi bird. If you are already visually impaired. Thankfully my boss is visually impaired, so hopefully, he won’t be able to tell the difference, provided I put a very bright light in front of the window. I can’t believe I found someone who was willing to provide office window tinting near Melbourne, accepting New Zealand dollars as payment. That was really lucky.
In today’s meeting, I’m going to break the news to Bret and Jemaine that I’m now managing two bands. They will have to fight for my attention from now on. I don’t think it should be a big problem, though. The Crazy Cats are basically talented enough to manage themselves, so I really shouldn’t have to do much. We’ll sit down for a band meeting and I’ll tell them to write some new songs, then read through their list of upcoming gigs. It should be fun.
I think I’m going to love managing two bands, and can’t see any problems that would arise from doing so.
